A shade tent, small sound system (the size of a suitcase and very light), and microphone are available; the volunteer(s) will be in charge of lining up the musical talent and setting up the equipment. If you have any questions, please call Phil Stanway at (978) 273-1474. - Budget Buddies
A new non-profit organization that seeks to improve the financial literacy and independence of low-income women in the Greater Lowell area is looking for volunteers. The program combines workshops on budgeting, banking, and credit with one-on-one coaching and client support groups. In September 2010, Budget Buddies will launch a pilot program that will serve clients of the Chelmsford Housing Authority and the Lowell Transitional Living Center. We are seeking coaching volunteers to make a six-month commitment to the program. If you'd like more information about this innovative program, please contact Kathy (978-256-8019; kathryn.brough@comcast.net). - Make a positive difference in the cultural life of Chelmsford
The Chelmsford Center for the Arts (CCA) at the Old Town Hall is looking for adult volunteers to take on leadership positions. Some of these volunteer opportunities include heading the Gallery Committee, Music Committee, Special Events Committee or Publicity Committee. Contact Susan Gates at ccaattownhall@gmail.com or to fill out a volunteer application. - Support the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail
The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail will connect the communities of Lowell, Chelmsford, Westford, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, Sudbury, and Framingham with a 25-mile route along the old New Haven Railroad Framingham & Lowell line. The Lowell-Chelmsford section has been completed, but there's lots more to do. Visit their website or contact info@brucefreemanrailtrail.org for more information. - Help maintain conservation lands in Chelmsford
For those interested in volunteering with the town's Open Space Stweardship program visit http://www.thechelmsfordian.com or call Phil Stanway at 978-273-1474. The program welcomes people who are retired, families, scout troops and companies looking to give back to the community. In less than two years the Stewards have rehabilitated and improved trails on close to 1,000 acres of Chelmsford Open Space. The program has a lot to offer and we need motivated people to help keep it growing.
