Chelmsford Recycling Committee
The Chelmsford Recycling Committee is a group of Chelmsford residents interested in helping our neighbors reduce their trash and increase their recycling and composting. We work hand in hand with the Chelmsford Sustainability Manager. We staff the Fluorescent Bulb Shed each month to help our fellow residents to responsibly dispose of fluorescent lights, batteries, mercury thermostats, etc. We also assist at various recycling drop-offs including Paper Shredding and Household Hazardous Waste. We also support the Chelmsford High School (CHS) Eco Club in their work on composting at CHS. In turn, they assist us at the drop-offs. Our goal is to reduce the amount of trash by trying to increase the number of items that get effectively recycled or repaired or composted, and by promoting reusables vs. disposables. We maintain a website to provide our neighbors with recycling and composting information. Chelmsford Open Spaces Stewardship
The Chelmsford Open Space Stewardship is an independent group of volunteers working with the Town of Chelmsford. It was established in November 2005 by residents who enjoy hiking, being productive and doing things outdoors. While the town manages and protects open space property, the Stewards maintain and improve the trail systems within these open spaces – anything from picking up trash and keeping the trails free of fallen trees to replacing worn out bridges and kiosks. Stewards provide a daily presence and ongoing maintenance so these special properties can be enjoyed by all. COSS has had an ongoing relationship with the Chelmsford Land Conservation Trust and has members that are also members of the Chelsmford Land Conservation Trust.
